Lawmaker stresses Pennsylvanians need to get back to work, students back in the classroom for the 2020-21 academic year
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – Rep. Mike Tobash (R-Dauphin/Schuylkill) is in support of the decision by Gov. Tom Wolf to move Dauphin and Schuylkill counties from the “red” phase to the “yellow” phase. Tobash released the following statement regarding the governor’s plan to reopen the counties on May 29.
“I am pleased that the governor is easing his most restrictive pandemic order on movement and businesses in the 125th District. This is a victory for all of you! The governor has heard your voices and finally reacted to safely reopen Dauphin and Schuylkill counties.
“We have flattened the curve and can now move forward. However, millions of Pennsylvanians are sitting at home out of work, and our children have been out of a classroom setting since March. We must focus our attention on the economy and education.
“I am not totally satisfied. The last two months have been devastating for our businesses and employees. We can’t make up that time, so we must look to see what we can capitalize on more in the next several weeks. The governor must work more efficiently with local and state leaders. We must get our Commonwealth in working order.
“This is a step in the right direction. Our businesses and residents have been doing a great job at following the guidelines. We have been very patient. I feel the governor and Secretary of Health have seen that our efforts have paid dividends. So I have every hope and confidence that they're going to continue to maintain these initiatives because the people of the 125th District understand what's at stake."
